What is the Global Cardiomics Network™?
The Global Cardiomics Network™ (GCN) is a collaborative venture designed to create a national network of cardiac catheterization centers with the goal of advancing cardiovascular research through genomic, proteomic, and other novel research methods. The mission of the GCN is to advance the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease at an individual level by leveraging an academic-private collaborative framework to construct and analyze a large cardiovascular database of clinical, genomic, proteomic, and biomarker information. The GCN will assemble data from over 500,000 cardiac catheterization patients over five years. For each enrolled patient, the GCN will collect clinical information, catheterization results, and blood samples. Duke will provide annual follow-up of all patients.
Why should my catheterization center participate?
- Ability to advance cardiovascular medicine through cutting-edge research.
- Opportunities for publication and grant-writing.
- Access to a common research grant pool created from GCN's revenues.
- Membership in a network capable of participating in multiple clinical trials.
- Continuing medical education seminars based on our research findings.
- Greater knowledge of long-term outcomes for your patients.
